I grew up in Colorado and lived in southern California before coming to Arizona. I've been told "ohmigod, you're SO west-coast!" about my vowels—it's accurate!
In my non-academic time, I enjoy keeping active—fencing, lifting weights, teaching and practicing yoga (RYT-200), hiking—and also fueling those activities by cooking and baking. I love a good cup of tea, I like to knit and crochet, I play the piano, and I sing. Sometimes I like to tap into my pre-academic life and write short fiction, and more often I'm caught reading sci-fi and fantasy novels. I can recite Friends line for line and my newest adoration is the musical Hamilton. I raise lots of houseplants, a turtle, and a cat, and I am very fond of all of the spiny flora in Tucson. I am a big fan of the Colorado Avalanche.
